Kelptyn was not thrilled to do anything to his teeth since he has been screaming bloody murder every time we've brushed his teeth (since June of this year). He thankfully got one of the several anesthesiologists that know him well enough to know not to put any tubes up his nose in his current state (too risky). So the dentist and the anesthesiologist had to dance around in Kelptyn's mouth together.
Kelptyn had x-rays, 8 of his front teeth removed, his back molars sealed down to the roots, 5 cavity fillings (more preventative), and his dental bone was reshaped to help with healing/better gum access for suturing closed. Poor buddy had such bad gum tissue at the ends that she had to go a little deeper to find gum tissue that would even hold just an okay stitch.
Kelptyn's mouth condition leads to mixed information yet again since his mouth demonstrates severe bone loss in the front (caused by what: Osteopetrosis or as a result of his long summer-fall with no ANC & poor blood supply to the teeth due to clotting war) and at the same time she confirmed he is teething and getting 3 back molars. He keeps us all guessing.
This was a rare day in our journey because Kelptyn was released to come home around 1pm instead of being admitted. She told us the next three days should be the worst part in a "typical" recovery. We shall see over the next couple weeks where he'll go from here and how he heals from this. And so we move forward within the present moment following our Happy Star.
