We're still not completely sure that the shunt was the total source of his ICP, but ever since the procedure he seems to be doing better. He's more like his toddler self today ramped up on steroids. Hopefully, he'll continue to get better as we wean all these meds down. Then we'll be more certain as to if it was his shunt or not.
Kelptyn was readmitted to the ICU this past Thursday afternoon 1/18/13. He was his happy, toddler self up until Thursday morning when he start to complain of cranial pressure again. After trying the "usual" meds to decrease his cranial pressure in the ICU, Kelptyn showed little to no improvements. Kelptyn then had a surgery Saturday night to revise his shunt. The Neuro Surgeon decided to switch out his head catheter for a different type and place it differently, in hopes, it will function longer for Kelptyn. Perhaps, after his last cranial expansion procedure things shifted around too much in there and it might have messed up the shunt's function.
