The doctors said Kelptyn was stable and could go home today. It's strange to take your baby home from the hospital and know that he is not cured. It's also strange to know you'll be going back to the hospital soon. We don't know when we will be going back to the hospital yet (maybe as early as the beginning of November). It depends on the HLA (bone marrow) match results which we should have sometime next week. It turns out that the priliminary results weren't the best and that Kelptyn has a very unique map (even for a white boy). We're hoping to get an unrelated adult donor, but cord blood might be our best option. We'll find out next week. In the mean time, we have several weekly follow up appointments and nurses that will be coming to our home to take care of KJ's PICC line & take labs. On the days that we don't have medical appointments you best believe we will be filling them with fun times for our Happy Star. Kelptyn continues to amaze us and somehow I think he is guiding us more than we know.
Thank you everyone for your continued prayers, messages, love, and support. We could not do this without all of you. Much Love, Sarah, Matthew, & Kelptyn

So glad you will be in your own bed, and you won't have the 'Ronald McDonald House' sign keeping you up at night. I know you will be soaking up this time.

Sweet little Kelptyn You have been in my heart and prayers ever since your Aunt Rachel (my grand daughter in law) mentioned you and your family on FB. It is amazing to me how somehow as sweet and small as you can show us adults such tenderness and trust even in the time of pain. God bless you sweetie!!

I'll bet it was just strange being out of the hospital. Seems it's easy to loose track of the outside world when you child is in the hospital. But you are free for now and I am glad to hear you will enjoy every moment you can, as soon as the rain stops. I wish I could hear Kelptyn's every day - it is the best vitamin! Take care of yourselves too Matt and Sarah i love you 3

Zoe was an extremely unique type for a white girl with OP too--only two matches and one didn't answer the requests for further tests. But, the one who did was perfect. I know of a little OP girl in England--Pakistani heritage--for whom they could only find partially matched cord blood. She's alive and thriving almost 3 years post transplant. Keep up the faith.
